New Wave Tropical (1980s)

Vibrant, colorful, tropical & rainforest imagery influenced by the wild & freeform visual experimentation of Pacific Punk Wave. There was also renewed interest, and some appropriation of the visual motifs of African, Caribbean & Latin cultures. A specific motif we've termed 'Colorful Cutout' is core to this aesthetic: simple, sometimes chunky irregular color shapes with that 'construction paper collage' look.
