Whimsicraft

Namesake: Portmanteau of "Whimsical" and "Craft", describing the materials used in this style and intended emotional effect.

Part of the folk art and furniture revival of the 1980s, along with a new interest in collage, craft, repurposing industrial/found objects. It's part of the 'down to earth', folksy, colorful 'art fair' atmosphere of the time period. Formerly called 'DIY Handmade Folk Artsy 80s-90s', renamed in Sept 2021.
