Pomo Faux Ruins (1980s)

ca. Late 1970s - Late 1980s

Intentionally distressed and crumbling structures as an architecture storytelling element (ex. Best stores). Ranges from 'contemporary ruins', eg. then-current spaces with distressed, crumbling, ripped, or decayed elements, to 'ancient ruins', which specifically reference motifs from Classical antiquity.
